The foundations are there, but several areas need work. Most businesses at this level need three to six months of preparation before opening a round.

How to read this report. This measures how ready your business is to be examined by an investor. It does not predict whether you will raise. A business can be fully ready on every measure here and still be turned down, because that decision belongs to the investor and rests on things a score cannot capture: their thesis, their timing, the market they believe in, and their read on you.

What this report does control for is the avoidable part. Investors regularly back companies that have gaps, as long as the founder knows what they are and can explain how they are being closed. The problem is a gap you have not seen yourself, because you then find out about it in front of an investor. Everything below is what diligence would raise, so that you can deal with it first.

No formal financial records

With nothing beyond bank statements, there is nothing for an investor to review. Revenue, margin and burn cannot be confirmed, so the figures in your deck remain unverified and the process tends to stop at the first request for data.

No documented cap table

Undocumented ownership regularly delays or stops a term sheet. Promises made early to advisers, developers or friends tend to surface during legal review, when they are most expensive to resolve.

Score composition

Where the 47 points were lost.

The six dimensions are weighted differently, so the same shortfall costs more in some areas than others. The figures below show how many of the 47 points each dimension accounts for. The largest is not always the lowest score.
